- Portable, collapsible, and lightweight are the features purposefully designed for the Keeper Kart™, a mini grocery cart, to provide a unique and simple alternative to the standard grocery cart. It is personally owned and operated by the consumer for ease of use, with personal sanitation and sustainability in mind. The smaller Keeper Kart™ provides an alternative to handling the large and somewhat bulky carts provided by stores.
- Keeper Kart™ was not created to replace the standard size grocery cart. Instead, Keeper Kart™ is for “light” grocery shopping, similar to the consumer experience when using the handheld plastic baskets provided by the store. The weight of items “carted” through the grocery store must be kept in mind when using Keeper Kart™. The bottom wire platform that folds up is designed to hold a case of water, a twelve pack of dog food, or a six pack of wine. The weight capacity of the bottom platform is 25 lbs. There are two wire baskets which lift up and off of the welded hooks. The top basket is designed to hold approximately 8 lbs., and the second or middle basket is designed to hold approximately 12 lbs.
- Examples of items that adequately fit into the top basket are eggs, bread, butter, yogurt, hot dogs, deli meat, and light weight produce such as avocados, lettuce, tomatoes, grapes, asparagus, etc. The lower basket is for items such as half gallon milk, frozen items, or six or fewer canned goods. Heavier items like gallon milk are recommended to be placed in one of the reusable shopping bags and placed on the bottom wire platform that folds up.
